T-Mobile G2 Gets a Price Cut to $50

The official cost the T-Mobile G2 has dropped 75%, but it's not clear if this is  sale or if the price for this Android OS smartphone has been permanently cut.

UPDATE: This was a short-term deal, and the G2 has returned to its regular price of $200 with contract.

The G2 is a slider with a large touchscreen, fast processor, and other high-end features, including support for T-Mobile's 4G wireless data service.

It launched at the beginning of October for $200 with a two-year contract, but is now selling for $50 with contract. This low price is available only online, however.

The G2 can be ordered now on T-Mobile's website at the new price.

T-Mobile G2 Overview
The T-Mobile G2 has a 3.7-inch, WVGA touchscreen, an optical touchpad, and landscape-oriented keyboard that can slide behind it's display.

It runs Android OS 2.2 on an 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

This smartphone has 4 GB of internal storage, plus it is bundled with an 8 GB microSD memory card for holding files and apps.

Because this device runs Google's operating system, it has a very capable web browser with support for Adobe Flash. It also includes email software, a music and video player, and support for Exchange ActiveSync.

The G2 can connect to T-Mobile's HSPA+ service, which means it is able to wirelessly transfer data fast enough to rival or surpass current 4G networks. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a GPS reciever.

It has a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and auto-focus and a 3.5 mm headset jack.

Without a contract, this device costs $500.
