The arrival of a Verizon iPhone is not only imminent, as many have previously speculated, but the device may also be 4G ready. This smartphone will reportedly support Verizon's new LTE service.
Last week, Verizon held management training sessions for the iPhone, which utilized functioning LTE-capable iPhones, MacDailyNews reported, citing an unnamed?source that?is "familiar with the matter." If this report is true, then Verizon's version of the iPhone will offer data transfer speeds significantly faster than AT&T's version.
There have been unconfirmed reports?that?Verizon is going to get the iPhone for many months,?and the first rumor of?an LTE-powered version surfaced last spring.
Coming Soon
The Verizon version of Apple's?iPhone has been "100% cooked for quite a while," according to the source, and has already been shipped to Verizon warehouses.
The official announcement of the smartphone will allegedly make its debut "right after Christmas," possibly coinciding with the timing of CES 2011, which will take place in early January. Upon the formal announcement of the device, the Verizon iPhone will be immediately available, said the source.
The post-Christmas release was apparently?the result of a?demand?from AT&T in an effort to maximize holiday sales of AT&T iPhones.
The iPhone has seen immense success so far, despite its exclusive partnership with AT&T, which is currently suffering from low-ranked consumer reports. It appears that this partnership with a new carrier will apply only to Verizon, however, though previous reports suggested the inclusion of T-Mobile and Sprint.
