For those who are running on a tight holiday shopping budget, U.S. Cellular has a proposition: from Friday, December 17 to Dec. 24, sign a 2-year contract and the wireless carrier will give customers any of its phones for free.
Included in the deal is the carrier's selection of some of the latest Android OS smartphones, like the HTC Desire or the Samsung Mesmerize, as well as recent BlackBerry models.
The entire listing of this carrier's phones can be found on U.S. Cellular's website.
To sweeten the deal, U.S. Cellular will also be tacking on a $100 credit to any new customers who are purchasing a smartphone or existing customers who are adding a smartphone line.
While the term "free" isn't entirely accurate given the stipulation that customers must sign up for a 2-year service plan when purchasing—or rather, receiving—one of these free phones, U.S. Cellular is trying to further entice customers by promoting its Belief Project.
The Belief Project refers to a number of different plans among which are certain benefits, such as faster phone upgrades, discounts for autopay and paperless billing, and exemption from contracts upon completion of one of their 2-year commitments.
It appears that plenty of consumers are happy to commit to the carrier, however, as a recent survey conducted by Consumer reports ranked U.S. Cellular as the best wireless carrier in the country.
