Motorola Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global No Longer Available from Best Buy

Best Buy, one of the largest independent sellers of mobile phones in the U.S., is no longer offering two of Verizon's most recent models. This is reportedly a result of a disagreement between the retailer and the wireless carrier over pricing.

Previously, Best Buy was selling the Motorola Droid 2 Global for $100 with a new two-year contract, and the Motorola Droid Pro for just $50 with contract. 

Sources familiar with the situation report that these prices were lower than Verizon wanted, and therefore the carrier is no longer allowing this retailer to offer these products. However, this doesn't take into account the fact that other sites have been offering these models for even less -- Amazon.com is currently selling the Droid Pro for a penny and it hasn't been penalized.

Whatever the exact details, there's no doubt that both of these Motorola models have been removed from Best Buy's website.

The Motorola Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global are two of Verizon's newest smartphones, only debuting last month. Both run Google's Android OS 2.2 and have physical keyboards, though they use different designs. They are among this carriers few models that can be used outside of the U.S., as they can connect to both CDMA and GSM networks.

Each is still available on Verizon's website, where the Droid Pro sells for $180 with contract and the Droid 2 Global is $200 with contract.
