Radio Shack has a special deal on two new high-end Android smartphones: both the T-Mobile myTouch 4G and the T-Mobile G2 are available for $80 with a two-year contract.
This price is only available for those who are new T-Mobile subscribers, though. These devices are still selling for $200 to current subscribers who qualify for an upgrade.
Wireless carriers regularly offer special deals to new customers, hoping that discounts on phones will lure in additional subscribers. But these deals rarely appear on the carrier's own website. Instead, they let third-party sellers like Radio Shack offer them.
More about the T-Mobile G2 and myTouch 4G
The G2 and the myTouch 4G have a great deal in common: both run Google's Android OS 2.2 (Froyo), can connect to T-Mobile's 4G network, and are made by HTC.
The most significant difference is in their design. The G2 includes a landscape-oriented sliding keyboard, while the myTouch 4G has a tablet shape.
The G2 has a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen, 12 GB of storage capacity, and a 5 megapixel camera.
The myTouch 4G has a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen and 8 GB of storage capacity. It also sports a 5 megapixel camera, plus it adds a front-facing VGA one for video conferencing.
