Windows Phone 7 Could Be Coming to Verizon Soon

Strong clues are pointing toward the first Windows Phone 7 device for Verizon being released earlier than initially thought, as Verizon-compatible applications have already begun to pop up in Microsoft's official software store for this operating system.

While it has been rumored for some time now that the Windows Phone 7 will be available for Verizon customers in 2011, these apps, including "Netflix" for Verizon and "My Verizon Mobile", point to a release that could take place shortly after the turn of the new year.

Given the timing of these apps being released to the martketplace -- and suggesting a release sometime in the near future -- this could possibly mean that a Verizon Windows Phone could debut at CES, which takes place at the beginning of January.

Verizon customers were initially out of luck when the Windows Phone 7 launched, as it only supported GSM networks and the smartphones were therefore available only to AT&T and T-Mobile users. But since Microsoft has been working on adding CDMA support for the operating system, Verizon and Sprint could soon see WP 7 handsets.
