Did you oversleep this morning because your iPhone failed to wake you up? You're not alone. A bug in the latest version of the iOS has reportedly caused problems for thousands of users around the world.
Alarms set for the first two days of this year did not go off, allowing people to be late for work or travel.
An Apple spokesperson told Reuters, "We're aware of an issue related to non-repeating alarms set for January 1 or 2."
The problem affected only one-time alarms set in the Alarm Clock app. Re-occurring alarms, and all alarms set in the iPhone's Calendar app went off normally.
Apparently the bug only affects alarms set during the first two days of the year, as Apple's spokeswoman Natalie Harrison promised that "all alarms will work properly beginning January 3".
The issue affects the iPhone 4 and other smartphones running recent versions of the iOS. The iPod touch is also impacted, but not the iPad, as it doesn't include the Alarm Clock app.
