Amazon Introduces Kindle App for Windows Phone 7

The Kindle app continues to creep across platforms, with Windows Phone 7 being the latest device to receive a version of Amazon.com's eBook app. The free application brings many of the features of the Kindle eReader to customers with smartphones running Microsoft's latest operating system.

Like the versions on other platforms, the eBook app for Windows Phone 7 gives users access to the 750,000 eBooks in the Kindle Store, and utilizes Amazon's Whispersync to sync their last page read, bookmarks, notes, and highlights across all Kindle-compatible devices.

Free book samples are also available to users of the application, giving customers access to the first chapter of any book before they decide to buy. And by using the smartphones' touchscreen abilities, users need only touch either side of the screen or flick to turn pages.

The Kindle app is available now in the on-device Windows Phone software store. It is a free download, and there are many free eBooks available.

The addition of Windows Phone 7 as a platform for the Kindle app adds to an already lengthy list of devices, including the Kindle, Kindle DX, PCs, Macs, Android OS phones, iPhones, iPads, and BlackBerrys.
