Dell Venue Smartphone Unveiled at CES 2011

Instead of continuing to ride the fine line between smartphone and tablet as it did with the Streak, Dell picked a side and announced the Venue, an Android OS smartphone, at CES 2011.

The Venue, which will run Google Android OS 2.2 (Froyo), is going to feature a 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen with curved Corning Gorilla Glass to reduce breakage.

Though it will run Google's Android OS, like many of this company?s other devices, it will have the Dell Stage UI overlay. This overlay debuted recently on the Streak

Powered by a 1 GHz processor, Dell's smartphone will be Flash 10.1-ready to optimize web browsing, and will also come equipped with an 8-megapixel, rear-facing camera and a Swype digital keyboard.

Like all Android-based devices, it is going to come with a suite of communication, entertainment, and productivity applications.

Though wireless carriers have yet to be officially associated with the Venue, it will be a GSM device, likely making it a fit for T-Mobile or AT&T.

Pricing and release information, while not available at the moment, will be disclosed in the following weeks.
