Verizon Could Offer iPhone 4 with Unlimited Data Plans

Rumors of the iPhone 4 coming to Verizon have reached a fever pitch, and the latest is good news for mobile users who enjoy streaming video and audio: Verizon will reportedly offer Apple's smartphone with an unlimited data plan -- something not available from AT&T.

Verizon has invited journalists to an event tomorrow, and many believe this will be the long-awaited announcement that this carrier will soon introduce a version of the iPhone. The actual launch is expected to come in early February.

AT&T has been offering this model for over 7 months, and has already sold millions of units, so Verizon will need a way to differentiate its version. According to the Wall Street Journal. one of the ways it's going to do this is by offering customers an unlimited data option.

AT&T used to offer an unlimited data plan, but earlier this year replaced it with a plan that allows subscribers to transfer 2 GB of data per month for $25.

If the WSJ report is correct, Verizon iPhone users won't have to worry about using up all their monthly allotment of bandwidth by listening to streaming music services, or by over-using the video-chatting service on their smartphone.

In addition, an earlier unconfirmed report indicated that this upcoming model might be able to access Verizon's new 4G service, making it one of the fastest smartphones available in the world. 

An Overview of the Apple iPhone 4
This smartphone has a 3.5-inch, 960 x 640 touchscreen, and it's also one of the first smartphones with a front-facing camera, allowing users to make video calls.

The iPhone 4 runs iOS 4.2 on a 1 GHz Apple A4 processor.

It has a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with a flash, and the device also has 3G wireless networking, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver.

AT&T has had an agreement with Apple that gave it the right to be the exclusive provider of the iPhone since 2007. Unconfirmed reports indicate that this is coming to an end very soon -- but not everyone believes these reports.
