A minor system software update has been released for Verizon's Samsung Fascinate. This brings a number of small enhancements to this smartphone, but not the long-overdue upgrade to Android OS 2.2.
According to the official changelog, this update includes:
Download the Update Now
According to Verizon's support website, the Samsung Fascinate's software update can be manually installed by going to Settings > About phone >System updates > Download.
Users also have the option to wait for Verizon to send the update automatically. Users will be notified when their device has received the new system software and given the option to install it.
More information on downloading and installing this update is available on Verizon's website.
This is the second minor update released for the Fascinate.
Android OS 2.2 Still MIA
While improvements are generally welcome, Samsung has been promising an upgrade to Android OS 2.2 since the Fascinate debuted last summer, but has yet to deliver. The device debuted with Android OS 2.1 even as OS 2.2 upgrades were already appearing for some models. In December, the first device with OS 2.3 debuted.
Earlier this month, the company promised that this oft-delayed upgrade is coming "as soon as possible".
