The BlackBerry Storm 3 Lives

RIM is apparently continuing its slow shift towards more touchscreen devices, with details about the BlackBerry Storm 3 leaking over the weekend. This is apparently going to be the latest in RIM's line of touchscreen-only smartphones.

Aside from its 3.7-inch, 800 x 480 capacitive display, the Storm 3 will supposedly also feature a 1.2 GHz processor and will come with 8 GB of storage and 512 MB of RAM.

Additionally, it will sport a 5-megapixel, rear-facing camera, a microSD slot, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, an optical trackpad, and 3G mobile hotspot capabilities.

According to the unconfirmed reports, the BlackBerryStorm 3 isn't due to be released until sometime in late 2011.

RIM Following the Trends
Since releasing the original Storm, the first touchscreen-based BlackBerry, back in the fall of 2008, the transition to touch-based devices has been a relatively slow one for RIM. When 2010 ended without any news about the Storm 3, many thought it wasn't coming.

But now, with the latest news about both this model and the rumored next-generation BlackBerry Bold being equipped with a touchscreen, it appears that RIM is carrying on with its push towards more touch-based smartphones.
