In an effort to expand the functionality of wireless enabled Palm OS devices, PalmSource has announced a plan to allow over the air (OTA) delivery of Palm OS software. Part of the announcement includes participation by Sprint, so all you Treo 600 people will be able to snag thousands of titles.
Carriers will quickly get on board with this initiative I would think. T-Mobile, Cingular, Verizon and others who offer integrated wireless units have the opportunity to make more money without having to do a whole lot to get there. This is good for consumers too, the concept of software on demand has been bantered about quite a bit of late. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, stay tuned for more information.
