Apple iOS 4.3 Beta Reveals New iPhone Photo Sharing Service

The next version of Apple iOS is starting to take shape as a new beta has been released to developers for testing, revealing new features such as a new cloud-based photo-sharing service. A mobile hotspot app has also been confirmed.

The new MobileMe-based Photo Stream feature utilizes cloud storage to sync photos over multiple devices; for example, users can take a picture with their iPhone, and that same picture will show up on their iPad. Photo Stream automatically uploads and stores the last thirty days of photos on to cloud storage, at which point users can make them publicly available or viewable only by select friends and family.

Another of the most notable additions of iOS 4.3 was featured in a previous beta released to developers: mobile hotspot software. But unlike Verizon — which said recently that its version of the iPhone 4 will have mobile hotspot capabilities — AT&T has yet to confirm whether or not it will offer this feature to its customers.

The next version of Apple's operating system will also include new FaceTime and Camera apps for the iPad, as this model is expected to get both front- and rear-facing cameras.

Release Date Unknown
Apple has yet to disclose a release date for iOS 4.3, but based on the company's previous practices, it's possible that the update could be out within the next month.

On the other hand, it might wait until the introduction of the next iPad tablet -- if so, it won't be available until April.
