Next-Gen Apple Peel Makes an iPhone 4 Out of Your iPod touch

There is only a fine line between the iPod touch and the iPhone, what with the recently unveiled next-generation Apple Peel 520 bridging the gap between the two devices.

The Peel acts as both a protective case and a sort of adapter that gives an iPod touch access to a cellular data network. The Apple Peel, which is designed by Yosion, is not the only Peel on the market, though; the ZTE Peel from Sprint has been available for some time now.

Unlike the ZTE Peel, however, the Apple Peel also gives iPod users the ability to send and receive voice calls and SMS. With the ZTE Peel, calls can only be made with VoIP via applications like Skype.

With the next generation of the Apple Peel comes a redesigned case to give the iPod touch the look and shape of an iPhone 4, as well as compatibility with the fourth generation of the iPod touch (the current Apple Peel is only compatible with the third generation of the iPod touch).

Also GPRS data support -- in addition to EDGE -- will be added to the upcoming version of the Peel; however, 3G is still not an option.

Yosion has yet to release any details regarding pricing or availability of the next generation Apple Peel 520.
