In anticipation of a February release of its Galaxy S 4G smartphone, Samsung made an official statement today about the details of its "fastest smartphone running on America's Largest 4G Network."
Because of its connection to T-Mobile's high-speed, HSPA+ network, the Galaxy S 4G will supposedly be T-Mobile's first smartphone that can offer download speeds of up to 21 Mbps, streaming HD TV, and Qik video chat by using the device's front-facing, 1.3-megapixel camera.
The smartphone will also come pre-loaded with a number of features, aside from the aforementioned T-Mobile Video Chat, powered by Qik. Users will also be able to sync and back up their photos, videos, and music with their home computer by using the pre-installed doubleTwist with AirSync, which automatically syncs files when a Wi-Fi connection is available. Other pre-loaded perks include Slacker Radio and a copy of the movie Inception.
More Hardware Details
The Galaxy S 4G will feature a 4-inch, super AMOLED touchscreen display and will run Google Android OS 2.2. Powered by a 1 GHz, Cortex A8 Hummingbird application processor, this model will sport a 16 GB microSD card, a 1650 mAh lithium ion battery, and a 5-megapixel, rear-facing camera.
Though the Galaxy S 4G will be available to T-Mobile customers by the end of this month, information on pricing has not yet been disclosed.
