The saga of the white iPhone 4 should finally be coming to a close, with shipments planned to start by early April.
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with Concord Securities, has reported that Apple has finally gotten its act together after unfulfilled promises last summer that a white iPhone 4 was not far behind the release of the traditional black version.
According to Kuo, there were issues in fully laminating the white version which, in combination with other production stumbles, caused the huge delays.
Apple has apparently finally overcome these difficulties. Beside this news of white iPhones being successfully produced, Apple will be shipping both white and black versions of the iPad 2 when it goes on sale on March 11.
Too Little, Too Late?
For early adopters/users who are more interested with the inside of their phone rather than the outside, Apple really hasn't given much of an impetus to purchase a white version of the iPhone 4. With the iPhone 5 in the home stretch (barring some ominous rumors), Apple may have waited too long to entice many customers with a new color option when there are huge possibilities for radical design and hardware improvements in the iPhone 5.
Furthermore, the April timeframe for white iPhones only applies to the GSM (AT&T) version. No new information is available on when (or if) the option will make its way to Verizon.
