CONCLUSION

The Motorola Atrix 4G is one of the finest phones ever created. It’s well-designed, with a sleek form factor and smooth metal backing. The hardware inside is cutting edge, with performance so fast you’ll find yourself using your phone more and more - and your notebook less and less. That’s one unforseen aspect of having such a fast device: it’s so nice to use that you simply use it more.

In addition to being fast, the Atrix’s strong GPU means that it’ll be able to play any game available on Android today or the foreseeable future. As Sony brings its Playstation app online, the Tegra 2 GPU makes the Atrix a prime candidate for playing these popular games. In the meantime, NVIDIA's Tegra Zone showcases a number of applications that let the hardware really shine.

There are a few problems with the Atrix: despite its 4G nomenclature, it’s not 4G, not yet. As AT&T brings more of its HSPA+ tower backhauls online, that will hopefully change. In the meantime, this carrier really needs to enable HSUPA on the Atrix, since in all other respects the Atrix is a fast, fast phone.

The world of Android smartphones is a volatile place, with today’s top of the line phone, tomorrow’s midrange freebie. For the moment, however, the Motorola Atrix is king of the hill: long live the king.
