After an analyst's report last week that the white iPhone 4 would ship in April, confirmation on the matter has come from Apple's top brass.
Philip Schiller, Apple's Senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, wrote on Twitter: "The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!)." This came in response to one user tweeting to Schiller "how do I get a white iPhone?"
While Schiller's statement does not necessarily confirm an early April release (as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo forecasted), it does mean that the long-awaited white iPhone is legitimately on its way.
Too Little, Too Late?
For early adopters/users who are more interested with the inside of their phone rather than the outside, Apple really hasn't given any reason to purchase a white version of the iPhone 4 instead of the black one that has been on the market since last summer.
With the iPhone 5 in the home stretch (barring some ominous rumors), Apple may have waited too long to entice many customers with a new color option when there are huge possibilities for radical design and hardware improvements in the iPhone 5.
Also, Schiller's tweet fails to address Kuo's assessment that only a GSM (AT&T) version of the white iPhone would be available upon release. So, despite Schiller's confirmation, he left some hazy areas concerning the final arrival of the white iPhone.
