Sprint has scheduled a press conference for the CTIA tradeshow this week where this carrier is reportedly going to take the wraps off the HTC Evo 3D, a cutting-edge Android OS smartphone with both a 3D display and a 3D camera.
The original Evo 4g (pictured at right) was a big hit at CTIA a year ago, and the follow-up is going to push the envelope even more.
According to a partial set of specifications that leaked out ahead off the official announcement, the EVO 3D is going to have a bar shape featuring a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 qHD Touchscreen that offers glasses-free 3D.
In order to provide content for this screen, users will be able to watch movies and other video from YouTube 3D and Blockbuster 3D, as well as record their own 3D images and video with a stereoscopic set of 5 megapixel rear-facing cameras.
Other High-End Features
The EVO 3D will allegedly debut with Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) running on a 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8660 processor,
On its front will be a 1.3 megapixel camera for 2D video conferencing, plus this smartphone is supposedly going to have an HDMI port with support for 1080p video.
Stay Tuned
Sprint is also expected to have some tablet-related announcements this week, including its version of the Motorola Xoom and a new model from HTC.
The carrier's press event at CTIA is going to be held on the afternoon of March 22. Reporters from both Brighthand and its sister site TabletPCReview will be in attendance to prepare both news and preliminary reviews of whatever gets announced.
