AT&T has just announced plans to offer the LG Thrill 4G, a re-branded version of the LG Optimus 3D, a cutting-edge Android OS device that has a large 3D display and a speedy dual-core processor.
Set in its simple bar shape will be a 4.3-inch, WVGA (800 x 480) Touchscreen that is going to offer glasses-free 3D.
On the back of the LG Thrill will be a pair of 5-megapixel cameras for shooting 3D images, 720p 3D video, or 1080p video when recording in 2D.
This smartphone is going to run Google Android OS 2.2 on a 1GHz dual-core, dual-channel processor from TI. LG is promising that this model will offer better performance than other 1GHz multi-core chips, especially when playing games or watching video.
The LG Thrill 4G is going to come with 16GB of storage capacity -- 8GB onboard plus an 8GB microSD card.
It will be able to play video back in high definition through its HDMI-out port or stream content wirelessly through DLNA technology.
Considering it has "4G" in it's name, it's not surprising that this model will be able to connect to AT&T's HSPA+ cellular network,
"Coming Soon"
Despite today's announcement, AT&T did not say when it is going to release the LG Thrill 4G, nor what it is going to cost. At this point, the carrier has only promised to introduce this product soon.
This announcement was timed to allow AT&T to show off this upcoming model at the CTIA tradeshow, which starts tomorrow in Orlando.
