T-Mobile has officially announced the T-Mobile G2x, the first U.S. version of the LG Optimus 2X, a high-end Android OS smartphone with a dual-core processor and a 4-inch display.
This upcoming smartphone will be one of the first models with a 1GHz, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip.
It is going to run Google Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) and an upgrade to Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) will be released eventually.
The G2x will have a bar shape dominated by a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen.
It will feature HDMI mirroring, which means that any video streamed from the smartphone to external displays will be expanded to full, 1080p HD quality.
This device is also going to come with an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a front-facing one for video chat.
Other items on the feature list are an 8GB microSD memory card and a 1,500 mAh battery.
Coming Next Month?
Although T-Mobile announced this smartphone today, it stopped short of revealing when it is going to be available. A recent unofficial report, however, said that it is scheduled to debut April 20.
The price for the G2x is not yet known.
