T-Mobile G2x To Debut in Two Weeks

T-Mobile has just announced the price and release date for its first smartphone with a dual-core processor.

The T-Mobile G2x will sport a range of high-end features beyond its very fast processor -- it's also going to have a 4-inch display, high-resolution camera, and Google's Android OS.

T-Mobile said today that this handset will sell for $200 with a two-year contract and a $50 mail-in rebate.

The G2x will be available from this carrier's website on Friday, April 15, but won't hit store shelves until Wednesday, April 20.

This smartphone is going to be the first U.S. version of the LG Optimus 2X, which was first unveiled late last year.

The G2x will be one of the first models with a 1GHz, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip. This will give it unusually fast performance.

It is going to run Google Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) and an upgrade to Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) will be released eventually.

The G2x will have a bar shape dominated by a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen.

It will feature HDMI mirroring, which means that any video streamed from the smartphone to external displays will be expanded to full, 1080p HD quality.

This device is also going to come with an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a front-facing one for video chat.

Other items on the feature list are an 8GB microSD memory card and a 1,500 mAh battery.
