T-Mobile G2x Now Available Online

Today is the launch date for the T-Mobile G2x. However, this smartphone is currently available only online -- the debut in T-Mobile stores won't happen until next week.

This is T-Mobile's first smartphone running the Android OS on a dual-core processor. And it sports other high-end features too, including a large display and a high-resolution camera.

The G2x can be ordered now on T-Mobile's website, where it is selling for $200 with a two-year contract and a $50 mail-in rebate. Without a contract, it costs $500. It will appear in this carrier's brick-and-mortar retail stores on Wednesday, April 20. 

T-Mobile G2x Overview
This smartphone is going to be the first U.S. version of the LG Optimus 2X. As such, it is one of the first models with a 1GHz, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip. This gives it unusually fast performance.

The G2x runs Google Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) and an upgrade to Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) will be released eventually. It has Google's standard user interface, without a custom one added by the manufacturer.

This smartphone has a bar shape dominated by a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen. And it feature HDMI mirroring, which means that any video streamed from the smartphone to external displays can be expanded to full, 1080p HD quality.

This device designed by LG comes with an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera as well as a front-facing one for video chatting. Other items on the feature list are an 8GB microSD memory card and a 1,500 mAh battery.

The T-Mobile G2x supports this carrier's 4G network. It also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver.
