Apple's Senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller, tweeted last month that the white iPhone 4 would be available this spring. Some new information gives details to when exactly Apple plans to release the long-awaited new color option this season.
It turns out that the iPhone 4 in a white casing should be available next week, with a release date of Tuesday, April 26. The version in a black casing has been on the market since last summer.
The website iPhoneItalia.com originally broke the possible release date, but refuses to completely get behind its source, saying (via Google Translate) "the information contained herein…cannot be verified or refuted directly by the editors of iPhoneItalia." The source claims that the product code for the white iPhone is listed in Italian electronics retailers' databases and designates an April 26 release date.
It originally seemed like the white iPhone 4's late arrival would give it no grace period before the launch of the iPhone 5, but it seems that recent delays will give the new color option at least several months before it is cannibalized by its successor.
