Users of the HTC ThunderBolt across the United States are reporting that they are unable to get a connection to Verizon's 4G LTE service this morning. The carrier has acknowledged that there is a problem, but hasn't given an estimate for when it will be fixed.
The problems with the ThunderBolt go beyond being unable to get a super-fast connection to the Internet, as users of this device are reporting that they can't get any kind of connection, not even a 3G one. Users of LTE wireless access cards and mobile hotspots offered by Verizon are also experiencing similar difficulties.
A post on the Verizon Wireless Twitter feed this morning said: "We're aware of an issue with #4G #LTE connections & our network engineers are working to resolve quickly. Will update here." So far, there has been no update from the company.
The ThunderBolt is the only LTE-enabled smartphone currently available from Verizon, but that's going to change tomorrow when the Samsung Droid Charge is released. If the company doesn't have its 4g service running by then, it's certainly going to stunt early sales of this model.
