HTC Droid Incredible 2 Now Available from Verizon

Verizon's latest Android smartphone is the HTC Droid Incredible 2, the replacement for one of this carrier's most popular models of last year. It has a bigger display than its predecessor, a better rear-facing camera, and other enhancements.

The general design isn't changing, but the touchscreen has gone from 3.7-inches to 4-inches. The resolution is staying the same, however: WVGA (800 x 480). 

This new model isn't able to connect to Verizon's 4G network, but it is a worldphone, which means it is able to connect to both Verizon's CDMA network and the GSM networks used in Europe, S. America, and elsewhere. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

The Droid Incredible 2 has an 8-megapixel camera, while its predecessor has the 5-megapixel one. The new model includes a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video conferencing as well, something the earlier one lacks. Other new  multimedia features are DLNA for wirelessly connecting to audio and video equipment and SRS WOWHD surround sound.

Like the original, this new smartphone runs Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) on a 1GHz processor. It comes with a 16GB microSD card, giving it more storage capacity.

The HTC Droid Incredible 2 is available now in Verizon Wireless stores and this carrier's website.

It sells for $200 with a two-year service contract. Those who buy this device need to subscribe to one of Verizon's Nationwide Talk plans and a smartphone data package. Nationwide Talk plans begin at $39.99 a month and an unlimited smartphone data plan is $29.99 a month.
