Those who are itching to get their hands on the HTC Evo 3D can now head down to their local Radio Shack to put in a pre-order for this cutting-edge Android OS smartphone with a glass-free display. However, this might be better termed a "pre-pre-order".
This is going to be Sprint's new flagship model. In addition to the 3D touchscreen, it will also sport a dual-core processor, support for this carrier's 4G WiMAX network, and the latest version of the Android OS for smartphones.
Putting in a reservation for an EVO 3D at a Radio Shack store will require buying a $50 gift card, though this retailer is not able to say exactly what this device is going to cost or when it's going to be released. When this model was first announced in March, Sprint said it would be on the market at some point this summer.
HTC EVO 3D Preview
Obviously, the most notable feature of this upcoming smartphone will be its 3D display, as it will be one of the first with this feature. This will be a 4.3-inch Touchscreen with a qHD (960 x 540) resolution, up significantly from the WVGA (800 x 480) screen in last year's HTC EVO 4G.
The EVO 3D is also going to sport dual 5-megapixel cameras for 3D photos and videos, and an HDMI video-out port for showing them on a 3D TV. There will be an additional front-facing, 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat.
This HTC model will run Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) on a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM> It's going to sport 4 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot expandable up to 32 GB.
Although Sprint hasn't made a big deal out of this, the EVO 3D will support its 4G service. Also on the features list is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, a GPS receiver, and a 1730 mAh Lithium-ion battery.
