Verizon Announces Launch Date for HTC Trophy

A hard and fast date has been set for the official release of Verizon Wireless' first Windows Phone 7 device: the HTC Trophy. Verizon's announcement provides surprisingly short notice, as it turns out the Trophy will be available before the end of the month.

Verizon started advertising the Trophy in February, and it was expected that an official announcement about release information would soon follow. However it has taken nearly three months for Verizon to commit to a date, and it turns out that date will be one week from today (March 26).

HTC Trophy Details
The most notable attribute of the HTC Trophy is its operating system. The Trophy will be one of just a few Windows Phone 7 devices currently on the market, and the first one arriving on the Verizon network. It will be compatible with Xbox Live, and have access to the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Looking past the software, the Trophy will feature a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen, 16 GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and a 5 MP rear-facing camera.

Price and Availability
The HTC Trophy will retail for $150 with a two-year agreement and after a $50 rebate. Regarding the release, March 26 only marks the online release of the Trophy, in what is seemingly becoming a trend of online favoritism for Verizon. The Trophy will be fully available both in stores and online on June 2.
