AT&T has announced the release date and price for the HTC HD7S, its next model based on Microsoft's Windows Phone 7. If that name sounds familiar, it's because T-Mobile introduced its own version of this high-end smartphone last year.
All of the models running this new operating system have a high-end feature set, but this HTC device has a larger screen than any of its rivals. And AT&T's version will have a Super LCD, rather than the standard LCD in the original HD7 that's offered by T-Mobile.
The AT&T version is going to be released on June 5, when it will sell for $200 with a two-year contract. T-Mobile's version costs half that.
HTC HD7S Preview
This smartphone is going to have a tablet shape, with a 4.3-inch WVGA (800 x 480) capacitive, multi-touch display.
The HD7S will debut running the latest version of Windows Phone 7 which now includes the ability to copy and paste text. It is going to be based on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and have 16GB of built-in storage for holding music, video, and other files.
The design for this model includes a kickstand on its back to make it easier to watch video, and it will come pre-loaded with an AT&T U-verse Mobile application. This will allow subscribers of this service to download and watch TV shows on their Windows Phone.
