Rumors About Motorola Droid 3 Specs Begin to Swirl

Although leaked images of the device have been floating around the Web for a little while now, some alleged details about what's under the hood of Verizon's Motorola Droid 3 have only just now begun to emerge.

Still adopting the slider design found in its previous iterations, the Droid 3 will supposedly sport a 4-inch, qHD (960 x 540) display, larger than the one in its predecessors, according to what a tipster told TechnoBuffalo. And while the slider design may be the same, the keyboard that pulls out is not. As seen in the leaked images, the layout is a new 5-row design, with a dedicated row of number keys. Previous models in this series have 4 rows of keys.

Word is that the Droid 3 will run Google's Android OS, and be powered by a dual-core processor, though the type and clock speed is currently unknown; speculation is already drifting towards the NVIDIA Tegra 2, as that was the chip found in the last model, the Motorola Droid 2.

Other features supposedly will include a front-facing camera for video calls and an upgraded, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. Unfortunately, however, one upgrade that the Droid 3 will not be seeing is a jump to Verizon's new 4G LTE network.

When the Motorola Droid 3 will be introduced is not yet known. Neither is the price, nor many of the other specs of this upcoming smartphone.
