LG Genesis To Pack in Two Touchscreens, QWERTY Keyboard

US Cellular is going to be the exclusive provider of the LG Genesis, which will be an Android-based smartphone with an innovative design: it's going to be a clamshell with a pair of touchscreens as well as a large keyboard.

On the outside, this model is going to have a 3.5-inch, WVGA (800 x 480) display, and opening it up will reveal a second 3.2-inch, WVGA screen as well as a physical, landscape-oriented keyboard.

The Genesis will run Google's Android OS 2.2 (Froyo), and is therefore going to come with a suite of software, including a powerful web browser, multimedia player, and much more. It will include 32GB for storing images, videos, and other files -- and if that was not enough, it will also be bundled with an 8GB microSD memory card.

This LG model will support US Cellular's 3G (EV-DO Rev. A) network, and will be able to share its high-speed wireless connection with up to five other computers over Wi-Fi. It's also going to have Bluetooth, GPS and even DLNA, allowing it to stream audio and video to compatible TVs and other multimedia devices.

Price and Availability
The LG Genesis is going to launch exclusively from US Cellular on Thursday, June 9. It will sell for $150 after a $100 mail-in rebate, and with a two-year voice and data plan -- that's at least $50 less than many comparable devices are going for.
