Sprint Confirms HTC EVO 3D Launch Date and Price

RadioShack recently released a flyer that mentioned a release date for the HTC Evo 3D, Sprint's soon-to-be flagship smartphone. The date, however, was unconfirmed by the carrier, and price was not mentioned at all. Well, Sprint has finally officially announced these details. Was RadioShack right? And can the EVO 3D stray from the beaten path when it comes to pricing for high-end devices?

The answers are yes and no. The RadioShack ad was legitimate, and the EVO 3D will officially be released at 8 a.m. on June 24. The price for an EVO 3D at launch will be $200, the going rate for the majority of high-end smartphones.

Sprint Premier customers will have early access to the device, and can order online starting June 21.

What makes the EVO 3D a flagship?
Upon arrival, the EVO 3D will become one of the showcases in Sprint’s device lineup. It’s not just because of its top of the line specs, like its dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor, or the fact it features the latest version of Android with version 2.3 (Gingerbread) -- however these features do help boost its appeal.

The reason the HTC Evo 3D reaches flagship status is that little number and letter that make up its name. The 3D capabilities of the smartphone make it unique, and one of the first in its class. Its 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) Touchscreen will be autostereoscopic, meaning it will offer glasses-free 3D.

The EVO 3D can also take 3D photographs and record 3D video, rounding out the phone’s unique, multi-dimensional capabilities.
