HTC EVO 3D Now Available to Sprint Premier Customers

Some Sprint customers could already have access to the HTC Evo 3D, Sprint's new flagship smartphone, and not even know it. A select group of individuals who meet the qualifications necessary for "Sprint Premier" status can buy the device today, June 21, three days before the masses.

As its name implies, the EVO 3D is one of the first smartphones to feature a 3D screen as well as a 3D camera. This, combined with its dual-core processor technology and other high-end features, make it Sprint’s flagship device.

The big question current Sprint customers now have to ask themselves is whether they fall into this group, and might be able to go ahead and order this cutting-edge smartphone at this very moment.

What It Takes to Be Premier
The Sprint Premier service is the carrier’s way of thanking long-time customers or those sporting particularly pricey plans. There are two levels to Sprint’s thankfulness in the forms of Sprint Premier Silver and Sprint Premier Gold.

To qualify as a Sprint Premier Silver member, one must have either an individual monthly plan that costs between $69.99 and $89.98 or a shared plan between $99.99 and $169.98. Gold membership is achieved by an individual plan of $89.99 or more, or a shared plan of $169.99 or more. Customers who have been with Sprint for 10 years or more automatically achieve gold status, regardless of how expensive or inexpensive their plan is.

Also, customers who gain membership via the pricey plans have to have been with Sprint for at least six months, and have at least a three-month average rate at the qualifying cost. Both Silver and Gold members currently have access to the EVO 3D.

An Elite Smartphone for the Elite Customers
The HTC Evo 3D is an impressive piece of phone, sporting a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor, the latest iteration of Android with version 2.3 (Gingerbread), and, most notably, its 3D capabilities.

It features an auto-stereoscopic 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) touchscreen, which allows for glasses-free 3D viewing. The EVO 3D can also take 3D photographs and record 3D video, rounding out the phone’s unique multi-dimensional capabilities and pushing it to the top of the smartphone totem pole.

This smartphone costs $200 with a two-year service contract. It will be available to non-Premier members at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 24.
