T-Mobile has promised to offer the myTouch 4G Slide this month, but not exactly when. Information leaking out of this carrier indicates that this camera-centric Android smartphone is going to sneak in just under the wire.
As its name implies, this is going to be a slider with a relatively large sliding keyboard and an 8-megapixel camera. It's also going to run the latest version of Google's operating system on a speedy dual-core processor.
Those who are eager to get their hands on this smartphone may have to wait a bit longer. An unconfirmed report pegs the release date at Wednesday, July 27. So far, this is the best information available on when the launch will be.
T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide Preview
This cutting-edge handset is going to sport a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and Google Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread). The HTC Sense user interface will overlay the standard one.
Like all Android-based devices, the myTouch 4G Slide will come with Google's suite of mobile software, including a web browser, email software, turn-by-turn navigation, multimedia player, and much more. In addition, T-Mobile is going to add the ability for users to edit their 1080p HD videos directly on the device.
Like many sliders, it's going to have a 3.7-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen. In addition to the physical keyboard, users will be able to enter text with Swype, a popular on-screen text-entry system.
The myTouch 4G Slide's 8-megapixel camera with a dual LED flash will offer zero shutter lag, backside illuminated sensor, and the ability to take burst shots and "sweeping, ultrawide" panoramic shots.
