Motorola Photon 4G Cutting-Edge Android Smartphone Coming Soon to Sprint

Sprint has announced that the Motorola Photon 4G is going to be released at the end of this month. This Android smartphone is going to be packed with high-end features, like a dual-core processor and qHD touchscreen.

The carrier unveiled the Photon 4G earlier, but has only just now revealed that it is going to be released on Sunday, July 31. However, Sprint Premier Customers will be able to buy it three days earlier.

This handset is going to cost $200 with a two-year contract. That has been the typical price for high-end models for several years, but a few devices have cost more -- Verizon's HTC ThunderBolt debuted at $250, for example.

Sprint's next cutting-edge smartphone is going to be one of this carrier's first with a 4.3-inch, qHD (960 x 540) touchscreen. This will be set into a bar shape, so there won't be a physical keyboard.

The Photon 4G is going to run Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) on a NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The device will sport 16GB of on-board memory and a microSD memory card slot.

Naturally, it will support this carrier's 4G WiMAX network, and it is going to have international roaming capabilities. In addition, it's going to include Wi-Fi and the ability to act as a wireless hotspot.
