Motorola Droid 3 Now in Verizon Stores

Exclusively released online last week, the Motorola Droid 3 is now available at Verizon Wireless stores. This allows those who are interested in this high-end Android smartphone to try it out before they buy it.

Like its predecessors, the Droid 3 features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, though uniquely sporting an extra row of keys exclusively for numbers. The smartphone’s 4-inch gHD (960 x 540) touchscreen is larger with a higher resolution than the 3.7-inch WVGA (800x 480) display of its previous iterations. The latest version of the Droid family has a front-facing camera, in addition to an 8-megapixel camera with 1080 HD video capabilities. 

Powered by a dual-core 1 GHz processor, the third generation Droid runs Google Android OS 2.3. Unlike the iPhone for Verizon, this is a global phone, which means users can receive wireless voice and data service in more than 200 countries. Compatible to Verizon’s 3G network, the Droid 3 does not support 4G LTE. 

Other features include remote data wipe, device and SD encryption and pre-loaded Quickoffice and Citrix GoToMeeting.

Priced at $200 with a new two-year agreement, the smartphone can also be purchased sans the contract for $459.
