T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide Camera-centric Smartphone Launches Online Today

The wait for the new myTouch 4G Slide is over: T-Mobile has begun offering this Android smartphone exclusively on its website today. It sports a sliding keyboard, dual-core processor, and an 8 megapixel camera.

Though the phone won’t hit T-Mobile retail stores until July 27, ardent customers can now purchase the newest myTouch Slide online for $200 with a two-year contract. 

This camera-centric Android smartphone, which includes a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, has an 8MP camera with dual LED flash, offering zero shutter lag, backside illuminated sensor and the ability to take panoramic shots. T-Mobile is emphasizing this feature of the Slide and will provide users with the ability to edit their 1080p HD videos directly on the device. 

Developed by HTC, the myTouch 4G Slide has the HTC Sense user interface overlaying Google's standard one. It runs on Android OS 2.3, equipping the device with a selection of Google’s mobile software, including an advanced web browser, email software, multimedia player and more. 

In addition to its a sliding keyboard, the smartphone has a 3.7-inch WVGA (800 x 480) Touchscreen which also allows users to enter text with Swype, a popular on-screen text-entry system. As represented in the phone’s name, the myTouch 4G Slide supports T-Mobile's 4G wireless network. 

 This handset will be available in this carrier's brick-and-mortar retail stores on Wednesday, July 27. This will give customers a chance to try the device out before they purchase it.
