T-Mobile to Release HTC Wildfire S Midrange Android Smartphone

With more 4G compatible smartphones entering the marketplace, carriers are offering midrange handsets at a lower price, as seen with T-Mobile’s upcoming release of the HTC Wildfire S. 

The Wildfire S, which will run on T-Mobile’s 3G network, is going to be available on August 3 for $80 after a $50 rebate with a two-year contract.

The Android 2.3-based smartphone will sport a 3.2-inch display with a 320 x 480 (HVGA) resolution, accessorized with Gorilla Glass to protect the screen.

While the device is going to hold 512MB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM, it will come with a microSD card slot, making the Wildfire S expandable up to 32GB of apps, photos and videos. The smartphone will also offer the HTC Sense UI and a 600 MHz CPU, and feature a 5MP camera and camcorder.

When it launches next month, the HTC Wildfire S will be available in white, when purchased from T-Mobile, and black, when purchased from Sam’s Club.
