Rumors are running rampant that a 3D handset is going to be released by Samsung at the end of this year. This will reportedly be a variation of the Galaxy S II, but with a "glasses-free" 3D display.
The device is expected to be a variation of the Samsung Galaxy S II, and has been dubbed the Samsung Galaxy 3D as of now. The phone will rival other glasses-free 3D phones like the LG Optimus and the HTC EVO 3D.
The Galaxy 3D is rumored to feature two 8MP rear-facing cameras, providing users with the ability to capture 3D stills and video. The device is said to sport a screen similar to the Galaxy S II’s 4.3-inch display and will emphasize the possibility of easily transferring content to an HD TV via an HDMI-out port. It is also quite likely that it will be powered by a 1.2 GHz Samsung Exynos chip and run Android OS 2.3.
Samsung could benefit greatly from its late entrance into the 3D handset game. While LG and HTC have struggled to find suitable 3D content for their devices, Samsung can rely on more mature software and additional 3D content.
