AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S II Will Have a Sliding Keyboard

Images of an unnamed Samsung slider that have appeared on the Web confirm that the Samsung Galaxy S II will definitely be headed to AT&T. And, unlike the version that debuted in Europe earlier this year, it apparently will have a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The pictures reveal a model number SGH-1927, as well as other details. The Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) powered smartphone appears to have maintained the same slender build of the Galaxy S II, despite the addition of a full sliding QWERTY keyboard. The pictures also show the phone sports a textured back cover. 

While U.S. carrier versions of the Galaxy S II are set to hit shelves in August, despite its current lack of a U.S. market base, it is still the fastest-selling Samsung smartphone of all time. 

No details of a release date or price for the AT&T version have been mentioned as of yet. It is also not known if AT&T will brand the device with a new name, as it did with the first generation of the Galaxy S, which was re-dubbed the Samsung Captivate. 

Though the AT&T adaptation of the Galaxy S II differs from the original in that it contains a keyboard, Brighthand wonders if other specifications, such as a dual-core processor, 8MPx camera, and front-facing 2.0MP camera, will appear on the carrier’s model.
