Sprint's Galaxy S II Passes Through the FCC

Thanks to our friends over at the FCC we can guarantee that the device with model number SPH-D710 is indeed the Sprint version of the Galaxy S II.

The smartphone, which is expected to be branded the Samsung Within when it comes to the Now Network, will pack CDMA and WiMAX radios and will be 5mm taller and 3mm wider than its European counterpart. 

A few weeks ago whispers of the Samsung superphone coming to Sprint started circulating, with rumors gaining credence after ThisIsMyNext posted a picture of the supposed Within. The image showed a phone with more rounded corners than the Galaxy S II and a vertical camera/flash alignment. 

Sprint isn't the only U.S. carrier to brand the Samsung smartphone with a new name. Though we already know AT&T's version of the Galaxy S II will have a sliding keyboard, we were unaware of the device's name, until now. The phone will be dubbed the Samsung Attain and will face competition from Verizon's model of the phone, which is said to be called the Samsung Function and--according to a Verizon tweet earlier today--will feature 4G LTE support. 

While no other details have emerged regarding a release date or price for phones from any of the three carriers, with Sprint's Within passing through the FCC now, we could be seeing this phone on the market very soon.
