Android Market Update Rolling Out Today, Adds Movies and Books

Good news for those of you with Android 2.2 or higher: users across the country have been reporting that the Android Market update is live and has started to roll out today.

The update will bring a handful of changes to the Android Market, both in appearance and features. In perhaps the biggest addition, the Market will now have tabs for both Movies and Books, supplementing the tabs for Apps and Games.

Movies start at $1.99 and can be viewed via streaming or downloaded for later viewing, should your Internet access ever come into question. As for the books, the previously separate Books app (which forced users to go through the browser to download books) is no longer necessary, as the digital forms of titles are now integrated seamlessly into the marketplace.

Along with the cleaner, more organized-looking aesthetic, there is also a new Editor’s Choice tab, taking users straight to some of the best and highest-rated apps available.
