Those awaiting the impending arrival of the LG Thrill 4G will have to wait a little longer as the “glasses-free” 3D phone will have a new release date of August 21, according to a leaked RadioShack memo reported by AnroidCentral.
RadioShack originally promised customers an August 7 launch for the Thrill, taking pre-orders for the device for several weeks. Those who already ordered the smartphone should be receiving a notification regarding the delay from the technology retailer fairly soon.
In spite of this setback, RadioShack will be extending the deadline for pre-orders until August 15, though reserving the device still requires the purchase of a $50 RadioShack gift card, which can be used to buy the phone on August 21.
LG Thrill Preview
The LG Thrill 4G will be a version of the LG Optimus 3D, which was released in Europe earlier this year. It is set to run on Android OS 2.2 with a 1GHz dual-core, dual-channel processor from TI.
The smartphone will sport a 4.3-inch, WVGA 800 x 480 (WVGA) Touchscreen and will feature a pair of rear-facing 5MP cameras for shooting 3D images, 720p 3D video or 1080p video when recording in 2D. AT&T will pre-load the handset with three games: N.O.V.A., Let’s Golf 2 and Asphalt 6.
According to RadioShack the LG model will sell for $80 with a two-year contract, or $550 sans the contract. AT&T, on the other hand, is going to charge $100 for it with contract.
