The most up-to-date version of Google's Android platform for smartphones continues to proliferate, as an update for Android OS 2.3.3, aka Gingerbread, is now available to all Motorola Droid X2 owners.
Now that the Gingerbread update is live, the process of upgrading the operating system on the Droid X2 is relatively simple. All users need to do is access the settings menu and go to the "About Phone" tab and then tap "System Updates". After that, they are presented with the option to download the 100.8 MB update.
The Droid X2 ships with Android OS 2.2, aka Froyo. But with this update, the Droid X2 joins the ranks of other Gingerbread upgradeable handsets, including the LG Optimus 2X, the HTC Evo 4G, and the Motorola Atrix 4G, among many others.
Gingerbread brings a range of improvements to both the user interface and the apps that are bundled with this operating system. A new Downloads app is also included.
