A new smartphone contender is coming to the market, but it's not from any of your typical, household brand names; it's from Chinese manufacturer Huawei and it's called the Vision.
A modestly-powered device, the Vision runs Google Android OS 2.3 (aka Gingerbread) and is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Other features include 2 GB of storage (expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card slot), 512 MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel auto focus, rear-facing camera with LED flash, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
There are plenty of other relatively standard features, including a 1,400 mAh battery, a micro USB 2.0 port, GPS and FM radio tuners, and proximity and light sensors. In a slightly more unique move, however, Huawei is loading up the Vision with a handful of big-name games, including Angry Birds, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, Order & Chaos Online, and Guerrilla Bob HD.
The Vision sports a "3D user interface," according to a press release from Huawei, though it is unclear as to whether this means an actual 3D display -- like the HTC Evo 3D -- or just a 2D display that renders 3D graphics. Regardless, the capacitive Touchscreen measures 3.7 inches and is part of a unibody design that features sleek construction, measuring 9.9 mm at its thinnest point, and comes in rose gold, silver, or charcoal colors.
No word yet on which carriers will support the Vision, and no specifics were given regarding its price point. Hopefully, we'll find out more before it hits “select markets” starting in September.
