There has been a rush of Android OS 2.3 upgrades released recently, and the latest model to receive one is the HTC Inspire 4G. This brings a number of small enhancements to this smartphone.
AT&T committed to introducing the newer version of Google's operating system for the Inspire 4G last month, and began sending it out to customers a few days ago. Those who haven't yet received it can download it from HTC's website and manually install it.
What's New
There are no dramatic changes in Android OS 2.3 (AKA Gingerbread), but it does include many small enhancements to the user interface and the bundled apps. The on-screen keyboard is now multi-touch, for example, and the overall performance is better. A Downloads app has also been added.
In addition, HTC has included some improvements to the HTC Sense UI as well as updated the FriendStream app. Other minor bug fixes are also included.
Get It Now
Those who would like to Gingerbread on their Inspire 4G can wait until it is sent to them over the air by AT&T, or they can perform a manual installation. The manual option requires a Windows PC.
AT&T has committed to releasing Android OS 2.3 upgrades for every Android smartphone it has released this year, as well as the Samsung Captivate.
