Sprint has made no secret of its plans to offer the first two smartphones with BlackBerry OS 7, but it has kept quiet about the launch date and price for the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and Torch 9850. This hasn't stopped these details from leaking out, though.
Both of these models from RIM are going to hit store shelves a week from today, Sunday, August 21, according to a pair of sales fliers that have leaked out of Sprint.
An unconfirmed report from last week revealed the prices for these devices, and this new leak helps confirm them. The Bold 9930 is supposedly going to go for $250 with a contract, while the Storm 9850 will sell for $150 with contract.
More About These Smartphones
The BlackBerry Bold 9930 is going to sport a 2.8-inch 640 x 480 (VGA) touchscreen and a physical QWERTY keyboard. It will also feature a 5-megapixel camera and a single-core 1.2GHz processor.
The BlackBerry Torch 9850 is going to have a 3.7-inch 800 x 480 display but, unlike the original Torch that launched last year, it will not have a physical keyboard. It will have the same processor and camera as the 9930.
These models will be the debut of BlackBerry OS 7, which is going to have a significantly faster web browser than the current version of this operating system. RIM has also added speech-to-text capabilities and augmented reality software.
