The next-generation Motorola Defy, dubbed the Defy+, will become available this fall; however, it appears the “life proof” smartphone isn't heading to the U.S.
Though the original Defy was distributed by T-Mobile last year, Motorola Mobility announced today that the Defy+ will be available in Asia, Europe and Latin America starting in early fall. There was no mention of a U.S. release date.
Motorola Defy+ Preview
The Defy+ is going to be water resistant, dust proof and scratch proof, according to Motorola. Powered by a 1 GHz processor, the smartphone will run on Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread and supports Adobe Flash Player 10.
It will sport a 3.7-inch touchscreen, a 5MP camera, and feature 2GB of internal storage, which will be expandable up to 32GB.
The news comes along with recent big news that the phone maker will be acquired by Google for $12.5 billion. While the deal still requires regulatory approvals in the U.S., the European Union and other jurisdictions, the transaction is expected to be finalized by the end of 2011 or early 2012.
