Microsoft has announced at Gamescom what changes the upcoming Mango update to Windows Phone are going to bring to the Games hub and Xbox LIVE.
The new update is going to allow users to download game add-on content through Xbox LIVE, play with friends on other Windows Phone using the Fast Async multiplayer feature, show off achievements with Avatar Awardables and manage control access with Parental Controls. These improvements will provide users with more options on Xbox LIVE through their Windows Phone.
Smartphones running the new version of Windows Phone will have access to some of the biggest names in gaming set to launch later this year. Some of those titles include, Toy Soldiers Boot Camp, Twist Text 2, Farm Frenzy 2 and Orbital.
Mango is speculated to launch September 1, the update will come free to all current WP7 users. The update is said to bring over 500 new features, including single thread messaging, integrated Bing search information and GPS support.
Microsoft first announced Mango at MWX in Barcelona in February. The company promised the update to its mobile operating system will include a full version of Internet Explorer 9 and more fully developed multi-tasking so users can easily switch between apps.
